merry christmas

after my birthday party, i sort of learned how to open presents, but the paper is still more fun to play with

this horsey that grandma and grandpa gave me is almost as big as my aunt kelly's horse!

now i can ride piggyback with my dad at the trail. we took barley for a walk and he really liked it. i ate cheerios off my dad's shoulder.

happy birthday to me!

what a birthday week! miss debbie threw me a party at my daycare on thursday. then i got to have another party on saturday. i mostly liked to try to eat the paper off of my presents, and i especially liked the icing on my cake. so did barley.

my cake was very yummy.

then i ate my dad's. he gave me ice cream too.

then i opened presents. thank you for my presents!

i was still partying at 7:30--too excited to go to bed. thanks everybody for a great birthday!

what a difference...

just one year makes. this year is my first official christmas at home. last year i was in the hospital. look how big i got in just twelve months!

that was when i used to sleep all day. i don't do that anymore.

i tried to help my dad put the angel on the tree, but it's scary being up that high!

my mom, she's a little bit crazy...

this time of the year is especially hectic in my house. my mom's a little loopy. sometimes she stays in her pajamas all weekend.

it's definitely fall

my northern relatives will be glad to hear it finally dropped below 70 in atlanta today. it got as cold as the 40s, actually, and i had to put on my jacket!

dad got me all dressed up today...

so we could go run errands. we went to costco and publix. he was hoping i would get a free cookie at the bakery, but i think they're on to us. it's really just my dad who eats the cookie, since i've only got two teeth. we had fun hanging out, but i'll sure be glad when mom's done grading research papers!

we had ice cream cake for dad's birthday. and we got to put real candles on the cake since we ran out of the birthday cake kind, but that was okay. i don't think dad wanted to put 33 on there anyway.

happy halloween. i didn't see anybody or go trick-or-treating, but my mom dressed me up anyway. we took a picture so you could see what i look like with a tail. i didn't like getting the whiskers, but look at all my fur!

i can eat cheerios all by myself now! only some of them get stuck to my bib.

being in such a good mood when i wake up. 

i'm getting bigger by the day

well, my mom bought me my first pair of jeans, so i got to put those on. don't they make me look like a big boy? and, by the way, i can stand up and hold on. look!

pumpkin pickin'

i went to the pumpkin patch today. i wasn't quite sure what to make of all those big orange balls. but they did have funny tails like barley's.

i'm learning how to crawl,

we play all day...

this is me and my daytime bud rachel. we like to play, go for walks, and hang out on the deck at mrs. debbie's. my favorite thing is jumping in the jumper. it's fun.

owen's tale

my name is owen, and i'm real fun

in just three months, i will be one!

 i'm growing fast, as you can see

this is a story all about me

i can drive a yellow car,

i can drive it near and far

i promised mom i'd drive real slow,

but i have no gas to make it go

i had a basket full of toys

some were soft, and some made noise

i turned that basket upside down

and then my toys were all around

i do not like to sit real still

any chance i get to jump, i will

i kick, and lunge, and move all day

pretty soon i think i'll crawl away!

when i was real little, mom took me to vote in the primaries. today, dad snuck me in to vote for school taxes. i'm a pro now and i can't wait until november. . .

a whole new perspective

i suddenly decided it was time to sit up on my own. no more playing on my back, mom and dad. playing on your back is for babies, right barley?

i don't have a fancy camera like charlie yet, but i do have a web cam. so, i thought i'd put it to use and show you my latest moves. barley decided not to party with me this time.

i had my first leaky diaper today...

thanks to the prunes mom fed me for breakfast yesterday.

i don't think i'll be eating any more of those any time soon.

on my first trip to the farm back in november. this is me now--funny how much things change in just 8 months!

me and barley just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to read our blog. we think it's fun telling you what we're up to.

what do we do when school's out?

well, i take three naps a day. i eat five bottles. i eat solid food twice. i wear about 9 diapers, and we take lots of walks.

i don't know why my parents look so tired.

it's not like they have to work!

land o' lakes

just got back from my trip to saint joe's. i got to go swimming in lake michigan with my dad...

and swing in the hammock with my mom. it was fun seeing nana and papa and all my aunts, uncles and cousins!

it's official...

i'm huge. today at my six month checkup i found out that i'm 28 1/2 inches long. i weigh 18 pounds and 13 ounces. i'm 97th percentile for height and 75th for weight. i guess that means my protein shakes are working.

why the long face, barley?

is it because the air conditioner is broken again and there's a heat wave outside? maybe nana and papa will let you come to st. joe's with us. i hear you don't even need

air conditioning in michigan.

after three trips to the doctor in two weeks,
